Aberdeen Equipment Removal

A GE Lightspeed and an Echo speed CVI 4 channel plus 1.5T MRI scanner were successfully removed from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary recently.

The disconnection and removal of the equipment took Somerset medical equipment specialists, Devon Medical, just three days to complete.

Lead Engineer for Devon Medical, James Laurie said “This particular post was an interesting one as we had two large pieces of equipment to remove in a short space of time. We always endeavor to cause as little disruption as possible to other members of staff, and it ran really smoothly.”

The Lead Engineer has to complete final system checks to remove data and sets the unit in correct position for removal.

The magnet weight was five and half metric tons and it took four engineers to dismantle and disconnect it, including a console; two flat monitors; computer chassis; covers and cables in control unit
